About Vascular Surgery

Vascular surgery is the field of medicine that deals with blood vessels other than the heart and brain. In the past two decades endovascular treatment has emerged as a less invasive alternative to many problems, and both open and catheter-based procedures are used to treat vascular problems.

Vascular surgeons treat many problems:

  • Thoracic and abdominal aneurysms
  • Carotid artery blockage and aneurysms
  • Lower extremity blockage
  • Leg pain and foot wounds
  • Varicose veins and blood clots
  • Leg swelling
  • Arteriovenous access for hemodialysis
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome
  • Vascular trauma
  • Entrapment syndromes
