Research Methodology and Biostatistics Core

The Research Methodology and Biostatistics (RMB) Core seeks to provide high-quality assistance with development of research methods and biostatistics to the Morsani College of Medicine. Our goal is to leverage the diverse talents of our RMB Core team to provide research support services in a safe collaborative environment.

The services provided by RMBC falls under 2 broad categories:

Study Design and Biostatistics

  • Brainstorming study design/feasibility etc.
  • Protocol development
  • Sample size calculations
  • Manuscript/Grant development
  • Data analysis
  • Systematic reviews/Meta-analysisOthers

Clinical Data Extraction and Management

  • Query design and implementation
  • Data extraction for studies from electronic medical records
  • Data management and survey design with RedCap/Qualtrics etc.
  • Study feasibility assessment through TriNetX

Request Process

Requests will initially be reviewed to determine if existing resources on campus may be leveraged. The Research Methodology and Biostatistics Core will then assess the following criteria: Effort estimated for each project Project impact/trajectory; and Ability and commitment to securing additional funding as needed to complete the project.

Requestors should expect to receive an initial communication about their request within two business days.

Is Funding Available?

Options are available both for investigators who have funding to allocate toward Data Analysis Biostatistics Core services as well as investigators, with a preference toward junior investigators, who do not have funding available.

Researchers are encouraged to write RMB Core services into their grant proposal. A document with standard language that you can use is available; please send us an inquiry to request a copy.
