Didactic & Research Conferences

The program has a variety of excellent clinical and research oriented scientists. Our Allergy/Immunology training program also includes a number of teaching conferences and frequently these conferences involve invited guest speakers. The scheduled conferences include:

  • Allergy/Immunology Clinical Conference - Tuesdays, 7-8 AM
    Attendees include all Allergy/Immunology faculty members, fellows, rotating medical students and residents, as well as other physicians who are interested in allergy/immunology. In this conference inpatient consults are discussed, procedure day cases (oral food, drug or vaccine challenges) are reviewed. This is followed by a presentation, including journal club, difficult cases given by fellows, faculty members, rotating residents or medical students.

  • Abbas (Basic Immunology review) and Practice Parameters (Allergy and Immunology) - Tuesdays 10 AM to 12 PM
    Chapters from the Abbas Abul, Lichtman Andrew, Pillai Shiv. Cellular and Molecular Immunology 8th Edition are discussed and AAAAI Practice Parameters are reviewed. Both activities are followed by practice questions to prepare for the ABAI board exam. The program director, associate program director and/or other faculty members precept these activities, answer any questions and highlight the most relevant content from the material in preparation for the boards.

  • Allergy/Immunology Teleconference Lecture - Wednesdays, 7-8 AM
    This conference is a joint conference between the Internal Medicine and Pediatric Allergy/Immunology Divisions, and consists of allergy and clinical immunology topics prepared by the faculty and fellows. Guest lecturers are invited to speak on topics related to allergy and immunology.

  • Basic Research Conference - Thursday, 7-8 AM., Three times per month
    This is a joint conference between the Internal Medicine and Pediatric Allergy/Immunology Divisions and is attended by the fellows, faculty, researchers and staff from the laboratory. Basic laboratory and research techniques, research projects and other topics are reviewed during this time.

  • USF Pediatric Grand Rounds - Thursdays, 8-9 AM
    This conference is held weekly and teleconferenced from Tampa General Hospital.

  • JHACH Pediatric Grand Rounds - Fridays, 12:30-1:30 PM.
    This meeting provides Continuing Medical Education for physicians through JHACH.

  • A/I Internal Medicine Conference - Mondays, 7:30-8:30 AM
    This conference is held at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center, USF, Tampa, and is attended by faculty from the Allergy/Immunology Training Program and fellows during their rotation in the Internal Medicine Allergy/Immunology division for cross-training. Fellows actively participate in journal discussions.

  • A/I Morning Report with Pediatric Residents - Monday, 8-8:45 AM., Once every other month
    Allergy and Immunology fellows have the opportunity to teach pediatric residents from the University of South Florida on a particular subject in the field of Allergy and Immunology.
