Minimally Invasive Valve Program

At USF Health our Minimally Invasive Valve Program takes a unique and multidisciplinary approach in treating our patients with heart valve disease. Our team of providers include cardiologists, imaging specialists, cardiovascular surgeons, and nurse practitioners working together to provide personalized care plans, while practicing state of the art techniques.

As the only academic medical center in Southwest Florida, we have the expertise to perform a full spectrum of adult structural heart procedures, including minimally invasive heart valve procedures, that are presently FDA approved in the United States. 

Our experts are leaders and internationally recognized for their work in the field. USF Health with Tampa General Hospital are working together to offer this advanced heart valve treatment in the Tampa Bay area.

Procedures include the following:
  • Trans-catheter aortic valve replacement (using both balloon expandable and self-expanding systems)
  • Trans-catheter mitral valve repair (using the latest generation Mitraclip device)
  • Trans-catheter valve-in-valve replacement (for degeneration of prior mitral and aortic bioprosthetic valves)
  • Left atrial appendage closure (using the Watchman device)PFO and ASD closure (using devices from both Gore and Amplatzer)
  • Alcohol Septal Ablation (for treatment of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy)
  • Para-valvular leak Closure Percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty
