HIV Clinical Research Unit

Services

Our physicians are Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease, and are on site daily in clinic. We are directly affiliated with the USF Health Division of Infectious Disease and International Medicine.

The staff includes the Director of Clinical Research, Dr. Charurut Somboonwit, six additional Infectious Disease-HIV specialist physicians, ten Infectious Disease fellows, and three clinical research coordinators.

Our clinical research program has trained sub-specialty Infectious Disease fellows in the management of HIV/AIDS clinical research and ethical conduct of such research for more than 15 years.

Our facilities include two exam rooms, a conference area, a research specimen processing lab, staff offices and a data management center, and secure storage for research records, regulatory documents, investigational pharmaceuticals, research lab kits and supplies, and IATA-approved shipping supplies.

The Unit has conducted over 110 HIV research studies, including Phase I-IV pharmaceutical studies, investigational device and testing evaluations, epidemiologic, health services, and outcomes research.

Our staff is highly trained and has over 13 years of combined experience in the administration and development of clinical trials.
