Research

Our research is focused on improving the lives of the patients we treat. We study factors affecting movement across the lifespan. These factors include

  • neuromuscular
  • musculoskeletal
  • cardiovascular
  • biopsychosocial
  • environmental

Conditions of interest include:

  • Concussion and fatigue
  • Low back pain
  • Extremity trauma and amputation
  • Chronic/progressive neurologic conditions
  • Overuse lower extremity musculoskeletal injuries
  • Healthy aging/geriatric mobility
  • Heat-related illness

Our faculty are engaged in collaborative research within and across programs within the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, USF Health, USF, as well as outside our institutions. Our past and current research is funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, AHRQ, Foundation for Physical Therapy and the Florida Physical Therapy Association.
