Community Engagement

Overview

At the heart of the USF College of Public Health’s community engagement mission is a commitment to strengthening community, as well as innovation in research, education and service. We are aligned with the USF Office of Community Engagement and Partnerships in our efforts to collaborate with local and global partners in support of student growth and development, along with evolving growth of partnerships that support the college’s mission.

From July 2015 to June 2016, COPH students contributed more than 2,471 volunteer service hours in the Tampa Bay area through volunteerism and service-learning courses. Plus, more than 250 graduate students provided 38,340 hours of community-driven work for organizations in local communities and beyond through a domestic or international field experience.

The College of Public Health has several boards involving internal and external stakeholders, along with a community advisory board to assist the college’s senior leadership team in assessing strategic direction for the college based on changes in the operating and political environment.

Community engagement supports people in the spaces where they live, work and play. Driving positive health impacts the Tampa Bay region and the global locations we touch on a daily basis.
