USF Awarded $2.24 Million HRSA Grant
USF, in partnership with Tampa Family Health Centers (TFHC), has been awarded a three-year, $2.24 million federal grant to help prepare a health professions workforce to improve care for older adults. Rita D’Aoust, PhD, Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Interprofessional Initiatives at USF College of Nursing, is leading the project.

Students complete global health course in Scotland

USF Nursing students spent an intense two-weeks in Stirling, Scotland to complete their global community health experience. USF Nursing worked together with University of Stirling School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health (SNMH), to give students the opportunity to learn about community health.
Graduate student receives scholarship from American Cancer Society

DNP student, Danielle Walker, RN, BSN, recently received a $20,000 scholarship from the American Cancer Society (ACS). Walker, whose interests are focused on gerontology and oncology, will use the scholarship towards her evidence-based practice project on cancer pain management and tuition.

USF Nursing PhD student, Lakeshia Cousin, BSN, recently received the 2015 McKnight Doctoral Fellowship. The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship program helps address the under representation of African-American and Hispanic faculty at colleges and universities in the state of Florida.
Nursing professor to ride bike across country to raise money for polio disease

It was back in 1965 when Dr. Nicholas Hall took his first 1,830-mile bike ride across the country. Now, 50 years later and 67 years old, he is doing it again. This will be his longest ride yet at 3,060 miles.
