Larry Collins, PA-C, A.T.C.

Larry Collins, PA-C, ATC is an Instructor, Physician Assistant and Certified Athletic Trainer in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at USF Health. Mr. Collins received his undergraduate education at the University of South Florida. He completed his Physician Assistant studies at the Yale University School of Medicine, Physician Associate Program.

In addition to his work with the USF Sports Medicine and Athletic Related Trauma (SMART) Institute, Mr. Collins works closely with the Sports Medicine staff at USF Athletics and at Saint Leo University. He has also worked with the United States Olympic Training Program, with USA Baseball, at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, and at the Winter World University Games in Torino, Italy in 2007. Mr. Collins has also helped organize and provide medical coverage for a variety of local athletic competitions including adventure races, the Florida Sunshine State Games, Gasparilla Distance Classic, Hoop-It-Up, Air-It-Out and other community activities. He has also provided medical coverage for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Storm, Tampa Yankees, Tampa Bay Mutiny, and Tampa Bay Rowdies. In 2004, the Athletic Trainers' Association of Florida named Mr. Collins their Sports Medicine "Person of the Year" for his dedication and many contributions to the profession.

Mr. Collins is an active member and leader of various local, state and national Physician Assistant, Athletic Training and Sports Medicine societies. He has been a Committee Member with the National Board of Medical Examiners' Surgical Review Committee for the Physician Assistant National Certification Examination. He has presented papers at national and regional conferences and has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and a textbook chapter.

Mr. Collins was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He has been married to Roberta (Bobby) for over 25 years. Mr. Collins is a competitive triathlete having completed 3 Ironman triathlons and recently competed in the 2006 Ironman 70.3 World Championships. He is also an avid runner, cyclist and adventure racer having completed several marathons and was a team member in the 2003 bicycle Race Across America (RAAM).
