Biography
Charles C. Nofsinger, M.D. , is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at USF Health. He also serves as Director of Informatics for Ambulatory Surgery at the USF College of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine from the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham. Prior to joining the University of South Florida, Dr. Nofsinger served as team physician for Tulane University in New Orleans. He served as the Tulane University baseball physician for the 2005 and 2006 College World Series and regional seasons.
Dr. Nofsinger returned to Tulane after Hurricane Katrina to help in the rebuilding process and to care for the hurricane victims. While at Tulane Dr. Nofsinger worked with noted biomechanist Dr. Sherry Werner to better understand the demands on high level pitchers, leading to peer reviewed publication and presentations at national meetings. Currently working on new techniques for reconstructing elbows, he is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Nofsinger enjoys teaching and has worked as an advisor for undergraduate and graduate students at Tulane preparing for careers in medicine. He earned his MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed an orthopaedics residency and research fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He holds a Master of Science degree in computer science from Brown University.
Dr. Nofsinger is married with two children Brock and Dean. He enjoys cycling, skiing and time with his family.
