Biography
Larry Collins, PA-C, ATC is a Physician Assistant and Certified Athletic Trainer in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at USF Health. Mr. Collins works closely with Dr. David Leffers, Dr. Charles Nofsinger, Dr. Robert Pedowitz, Dr. Edward Homan and Dr. Michael Shereff in the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine and with the Sports Medicine Athletic Related Trauma (SMART) Institute at USF.  He has worked with Dr. Leffers in Tampa since 1990. Mr. Collins works closely with the Sports Medicine staff in the Department of Athletics at the University of South Florida. 
 
He has also worked with the United States Olympic Training Program, with USA Baseball, at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, and with the United States Men's Ice Hockey team at the Winter World University Games in Torino, Italy in January, 2007. Mr. Collins has also helped organize and provide medical coverage for a variety of local athletic competitions including adventure races, the Florida Sunshine State Games, Gasparilla Distance Classic, Hoop-It-Up, Air-It-Out and other community activities. He has also helped provide medical coverage for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Storm, Tampa Bay Mutiny, Tampa Bay Rowdies, the University of Tampa, Saint Leo University and several area high school football teams.

Mr. Collins is an active member and leader of various local, state and national Physician Assistant, Athletic Training and Sports Medicine societies. He has been a Committee Member with the National Board of Medical Examiners' Surgical Review Committee for the Physician Assistant National Certification Examination, and has held several positions with state and national Physician Assistant Academies. He has presented papers at national and regional conferences and has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and textbook chapters. He is an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida in the Athletic Training Education Program. In 2004, Mr. Collins was named the Sports Medicine Person of the Year by the Athletic Trainers' Association of Florida.

Mr. Collins received his undergraduate education at the University of South Florida where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He completed his Physician Assistant studies at the Yale University School of Medicine, Physician Associate Program, where he was presented the Yale University Physician Associate Program Honors Award.

Mr. Collins was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He has been married to his wife Bobby for 25 years. Mr. Collins is a competitive triathlete having completed 3 Ironman triathlons and most recently having competed in the 2006 Ironman 70.3 World Championships. He is also an avid golfer, runner, cyclist and adventure racer having completed several marathons and was a team member in the 2003 bicycle Race Across America (RAAM).
