Advising Information
ATEP Advisor
Welcome to Undergraduate Advising in the Athletic Training Education Program
On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Athletic Training Education Program, welcome to the advising resource page. Whether this is your first time in college or you are a current or transfer student, this website provides information on advising, how to work with your advisor, the process of academic planning, and course registration.
Advising Resource
The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) Office is intended to provide information for the students wishing to receive their degree in Athletic Training. This page will provide information for completing pre-requisites for the Athletic Training Program and application procedures.
You will be required to meet with your advisor at the beginning of the fall and spring semester of each academic year and more often as needed or requested by you. For general advising, please check back to this page for dates and times for group advising. If you have a specific situation you'd like to discuss in person, we must require that you make an appointment due to the large number of students we are currently advising. A proactive approach towards your education will enable you to make informed decisions, develop a good academic plan, and ultimately achieve your primary goal for attending the University of South Florida—earning your degree!
Spring 2009 Group Advising
Spring 2009 Group Advising and information sessions will be posted on Blackboard as soon as dates are determined. If you need more information about the ATEP or are planning to apply in 2010, you should plan to attend one of these sessions. If you are a non-USF student please contact the program advisor (below). If you are a USF student and are a Pre-Athletic Training Major, please log into my.usf.edu and go to the organization page for Pre-AT majors. All advising sessions will be held in the Department of Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Conference Room. 13220 USF Laurel Drive, 5th Floor.

It is important for the student to follow the recommended plan in order to qualify for application to the ATEP. Many courses have pre or co-requisites and cannot be taken out of sequence. Taking courses out of sequence may result in a delay in your application or extend the time it takes to complete your degree.
Advising will take place in both group and individual sessions. Please plan ahead when you need advising assistance. Please schedule appointments well in advance of your need to schedule classes. To best utilize your time and the advisor's time, please prepare by completing the following:
- Review your academic history by accessing the Student Academic Support System (SASS) located at www.facts.org For more information about SASS visit http://www.ugs.usf.edu/sass/sass.htm
- Prepare a list of questions and courses you are interested in taking.
- You may also want to visit the following websites for programs and resources of interest to you:
Most importantly, be prepared! Being prepared will make the advising session much better for everyone
