Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine
The University of South Florida division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (sometimes known as high-risk obstetrics) provides complete obstetrical care for women with pregnancies complicated by maternal and fetal disease. We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions throughout pregnancy.
4 board-certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists form the core of our maternal-fetal medicine team. Our experienced and compassionate high-risk obstetrics nurses, medical assistants, geneticists, diabetic educators, and dieticians offer complete care for our patients.
We provide all of the necessary services to deliver the best possible care and promote the best outcome for you and your baby. First-trimester diagnostic services include targeted 3-D and 4-D ultrasound, nuchal translucency and serum markers (PAPP-A, Free Beta) evaluation, AFP 4 ("Quad Screen") analysis, chorionic villus sampling, and genetic counseling. We also offer amniocentesis in the second trimester.
We offer complete care for diabetes, hypertension (high-blood pressure), and many other complications of pregnancy.
The Division supervises the delivery of more than 5000 infants annually at the Tampa General and University Community Hospital antepartum and labor and delivery suites. The new University of South Florida Centers for Advanced Health Care ambulatory centers on the south campus at Tampa General Hospital and the North Campus at the University of South Florida Campus are poised to revolutionize women's care in the Tampa metropolitan area. Additionally, our patients can expect to benefit from a tremendous expansion of Tampa General Hospital , currently under construction, which will house our new and expanded women's care facilities.
