Special Programs
Combined Baccalaureate/MD Program
The USF College of Medicine has partnered with several Florida universities providing first-time in college freshmen with a guaranteed pathway into the USF MD Program. This special program allows the USF MD Program to reserve future places in the first-year class for the students in these programs who satisfy the requirements for both university honors and admissions to the study of medicine.
Pre-Matriculation Program
The Pre-Matriculation Program provides a unique experience for students in order to reduce the likelihood of academic difficulties in medical school. Six weeks of didactic lectures, small group discussions, computer-aided instruction in Biochemistry and Gross Anatomy, and introduction to the physical examinations introduce students to basic medical science before they begin medical school coursework. The curriculum includes presentations on time and stress management, effective study skills and computer skills. All accepted first-year medical students are eligible for participation in the program in the summer before matriculating at the medical school. Stipends are available for qualified students.
Combined MD/MPH Program
MD Students may elect to add a 5th year to their program and graduate with an MD/MPH Degree offered in conjunction with the USF College of Public Health (COPH). Students may select MPH plans of study will focus on community and family health with concentrations in Epidemiology, Preventative Medicine/Occupational Health, Health Care Organizations and Management, or Maternal and Child Health.
Interested MD students will apply via the USF Office of Graduate Affairs during the spring of their third year in medical school. After taking 3 semesters of MPH Program courses, students return to the College of Medicine to complete their final year of the MD Program.
Combined MD/PhD Program
The combined MD/PhD program within the College of Medicine at the University of South Florida is designed to foster development of the next generation of physician-scientists who will make major contributions via translational medicine to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of human disease.
Application to the combined MD/PhD program requires separate acceptance into each component programs. Students are required to demonstrate superior qualifications as represented by GPA and MCAT scores, the latter substituting for the GRE, in the graduate admission process. All applicants must complete a program interview and apply using the normal MD and PhD program application processes which involve completing an AMCAS application, external recommendations and student essays.

Combined MD/MBA Program
Students need only apply to the
Combined MD/JD Program
The combined MD/JD program between USF and Stetson Law School results in students attaining both degrees in 6.5 years versus the 7 years required if pursued independently. Applicants need to complete both the LSAT and MCAT exams before applying to each school for admissions. An independent consent of each school's Admissions Committee will admit applicants into this combined degree.
