Tuition & Fees

The University of South Florida Doctor of Physical Therapy program is proud to provide one of the top value educations available for physical therapy nationally. We offer one of the lowest tuitions nationally for both in-state and out-of-state residents, and provide excellent program outcomes (job placement, licensure, rankings, etc.).

Tuition and fees for the 2023-2024 academic year for the USF DPT degree program is ESTIMATED to be:

$21,752 for in-state students
$29,110 for out-of-state students

The yearly amount is split into 2 installments. The first installment, an estimated amount pending approval by the Florida Board of Governors, is due in August. The second installment is due in January. Your tuition assessment will be available online approximately 30 days prior to the start of classes. An e-mail with your login information will be sent at that time by Marrissa Cook, College of Medicine Registrar.

Other approximate expenses encountered during the first few weeks of school include:

Miscellaneous supplies - $500

Internal School Scholarships

The scholarships listed below are specific to the School and only given out to currently enrolled Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students at USF. Each year the SPT&RS Scholarship Committee selects recipients from a pool of qualified students as part of the competitive scholarship application process.

Dr. Frederick W. and Nancy Kurtzman Scholarship

After graduating from medical School at Temple University in Philadelphia, Dr. Kurtzman came to Tampa to complete his residency at Tampa General Hospital in 1974 and was in private practice until 1999. He was chief of surgery and vice chief of staff at Town and Country Hospital. Dr. Kurtzman also was director of the Lifetime Cancer Screening Program at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. After 20 years in practice, Dr. Kurtman sustained a back in jury that led him to an interest in physical therapy and rehabilitation sciences, and ultimately the creation of this scholarship fund at USF SPT&RS.

Johnene M. Vorholy Argus Memorial Scholarship

Mr. Argus established this scholarship in memory of his late wife, Johnene M. Vorholy. In 2001, Mrs. Vorholy received a Master’s in Physical Therapy from USF. Her drive for excellence was not only demonstrated in her professional life, but also in her athletics. She had an extremely competitive nature in every sport she played and participated in. She played field hockey in high school and college and ran track while at Nazareth. She was an avid marathon runner having run in the New York Marathon in 2008. Her other marathons included Nashville, San Francisco and Tampa. In addition to running, she loved being outdoors and enjoyed hiking, kayaking, biking, tennis, and golfing.

Tom A. Tiedemann SPT&RS Circle of Motion Scholarship

Mr. Tiedemann is a retired Electrical Engineer with Xcel Energy, Inc., a public utility company headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Before his time in the public utilities sector, Mr. Tiedemann worked as a member of the launch team for the Saturn program at NASA. His background in engineering has made him particularly interested in the ways in which physical therapy works to restore mobility and function. Mr. Tiedemann attended an event hosted by the USF School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences and was inspired to establish this scholarship by a patient who spoke about the impact physical therapy had on her ability to hold her back in a more upright position after having stood bent over for years and being told that better posture might never be restored. SPT&RS CORA Scholarship

CORA Health Services, Inc., provides clinical and outpatient rehabilitation services to patients at over 100 locations in the United States. This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to currently enrolled graduates who are full-time students in the USF School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Services on the Tampa campus of USF.

Mid-Florida Chapter MS Step Up Scholars Scholarship

Each year the USF/Mid-Florida Chapter MS Step Up program selects two currently enrolled DPT students to serve as our MS Scholars. The advanced training they receive enables them to develop examination and intervention skills needed to care for patients with MS. The shadowing, community service and advocacy experiences train them to work within an interdisciplinary team of MS providers. The scholarship generously provided by the NMSS provides for additional coursework, shadowing experiences, community service, travel & presentations at MS conferences, and clinical education in the MS specialty. To date, ten DPT students have matriculated through the MS STEP UP program at USF.

Future Professionals Scholarship

The School created this scholarship to provide financial assistance to a student who exemplifies what it means to be a future, professional Physical Therapist. The scholarship is awarded based on academic standings and professionalism.

USF SPT&RS Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship was started by Dr. Charles Lockwood, Dean of the Morsani College of Medicine and Senior Vice President, USF Health on behalf of our alumni during our 20th Anniversary. The scholarship continues to support itself via generous donations by faculty, staff, and primarily alumni looking to give back to current DPT students.

Laura Lee "Dolly" Swisher Scholarship Fund

In honor of her 21 years of outstanding service, the Laura Lee "Dolly" Swisher Scholarship Fund has been established so future Doctor of Physical Therapy students will continue receive some of the generosity and care that Dr. Swisher provided during her career at USF. This scholarship will specifically support students from diverse backgrounds and will celebrate all those differences that make us unique, including but not limited to: race, color, ethnicity, language, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, gender, socioeconomic status, age,and physical and mental ability.
